Tammy's Cancer Fund : Fight for her Life
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sabrina, and I am writing this on behalf of my mom Tammy Sawyer in collaboration with my older siblings Clayton and Megan.
On April 21,2022, our mom was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive variant of cancer called Basaloid Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
Tammy is a mother of three, a grandma of three, and a friend to many. For over 25 years, she was a beloved bartender in Henderson, Nevada and made lifelong friendships. Although she enjoyed her job, in Summer of 2021, she decided that instead of seeing her grandkids grow up on facetime, she needed to be there for it all in person because that is what truly made her happy. So, at 54, she packed up and moved 1500 miles across the country to Cherokee Village, Arkansas to live with my sister Megan and her beautiful family. She was ready for a fresh start, and we were all so proud of her for putting her happiness first and taking control of the rest of her life.
Unfortunately, six months later, she got sick. Since it was during Winter, we thought it was just a bad cold, but she still had not gotten her voice back and was not getting any better, so she went to the doctor. After the antibiotics did not help, the doctors called for a Chest X-Ray and Chest Cat Scan, which showed three masses; two masses on her right lung and one large mass wrapped around her aortic arch and her esophagus. Following those results, a biopsy confirmed that she has Basaloid Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Due to the rarity of this specific type of cancer and the complex placement of the mass surrounding her heart, her Oncologist has her on a “Tumor Board” which is a group of doctors and other health care providers that go over her case and talk about the best care options for her. The road ahead has an aggressive care plan including Chemotherapy, daily Radiation, and a world of hope. All treatments will take place in Batesville, AR, which is an hour away from Cherokee village so there will be daily travel expenses and accommodation costs.
All donations received will go towards anything and everything our mom needs during this time, including medical, travel, and unforeseen expenses. Whether you have known her for years or had only met her once, there is no denying that she is truly one of a kind. When I think of my mom, I think of her captivating beauty, her love for singing, a smile that brightens up every room she walks into and an endless love for the people she cares for. Above all else, she is one hell of a fighter, but she needs all the support she can get. Our family is extremely grateful for all help and support during this time.
