Tammy O’Brien’s Stem Cell Transplant
Donation protected
Tammy was diagnosed with Leukemia on September 1, 2020. She has been in and out of the hospital during this pandemic for chemotherapy testing, pneumonia, and infections. She needs a stem cell transplant infusion that comes at a high cost. Thankfully her sister, Patty, is a perfect match! Tammy needs help.
Tammy has been a registered nurse for 32 years. Her husband retired from the Coast Guard after 26 1/2 years. Her younger son joined the Army Reserves 5 1/2 years ago and was deployed to Afghanistan. Her daughter is in the Navy going on four years. She is also known as Meemaw to five beautiful granddaughters from her oldest son, who is now unfortunately deceased.
Tammy has cared for thousands of patients over three decades as a registered nurse by giving them the medical care they needed to get well and return home. She made countless sacrifices as a nurse and as a military wife/mom. She gladly moved wherever the Coast Guard sent her husband even though it required them to find a new home, a new job for Tammy, and new schools for her children. She courageously gets through each day but always grieving for the loss of her eldest son who passed away unexpectedly four years ago. She's been a brave warrior through it all. Now it's Tammy's turn to get the medical care she needs to beat cancer.
The procedure will be done at Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina on April 15. Unfortunately, this procedure comes at a high cost. Tammy is having to pay part of the procedure, along with travel for herself and her sister Patty, who lives in Alabama. Tammy is also having to pay for food and housing after the procedure due to the daily/frequent appointments she will have after the procedure. It's saddening to me and anyone that knows Tammy, that a life altering procedure that NEEDS to be done comes at such a high price.
Please consider donating to Tammy's fund so she can focus on getting well, instead of worrying about the financial cost to fight cancer. Even if we don't meet our goal, every penny counts and we are deeply grateful to anyone who can donate. All the funds will go straight to Tammy for her procedure. We love our Meemaw and want to see her healthy again! Thank you in advanced for your support!
