Tammy Haun was a loving wife, mother and educator. Her infectious spirit had an impact on everyone that she met. Tammy's commitment to her students reached far beyond her classroom duties, and she earned a reputation of a teacher with high expectations, and a heart full of love. Along with her husband, Steve, the Haun's have changed many lives in the Davenport and Haines City communities. Beloved by thousands of former students, Tammy was widely considered a blessing, a maternal figure, and a friend. She was more than a teacher...she was a life saver, and she never stopped giving to the world.
To honor her memory, the Haun family is asking for donations to Tammy and Steve's local church, West Side Baptist Church in Lake Wales, FL. All funds from this campaign will be donated in Tammy Haun's name to the building fund at the church. Funds will be used to help replace a 100 year old building that had to be torn down.
The impact that Mrs. Haun has had on the community is far reaching:
"Mrs. Haun holds such a special place in my heart, she would always listen to me vent about Ricky in class. She was such an amazing teacher. When I decided I wanted to become a teacher and changed my major she is always who I said I would aim to be like. She was such a blessing. She will be missed."
"Mrs. Haun was one of my favorite teachers are Ridge Community High School. I actually remember things she taught me...She was so funny and strict at the same time. I loved her sarcasm and how caring she was for all of her students. Even after high school, she would check in with me and see how things were going. She was a beautiful woman inside and out."
"If it wasn't for Mrs. Haun, I would have dropped out of high school in 9th grade when I had the chance. She changed my life."
"Mrs. Haun saw right through my shenanigans and told me I would make something of myself one day. She was truly one of a kind. She touched many lives teaching...she certainly touched mine."
