My sweet mom, Tammy, has been in the ICU for 12 days.  She went into the ER August 5th for a GI bleed. We learned she was low on every fluid in her body including blood. She ended up being transferred to ICU. After some other issues She developed delirium from being there so long. It has been so hard to watch her in the delirious state, not even knowing who her kids or her husband is. Later we learned she had a bacterial infection in her blood, which can also cause confusion to a person. Also she got a blood clot in her arm, that they are currently watching to make sure it doesn’t go to her heart. They did a colonoscopy, they didn’t see any major issues, which is good but still no for sure answers to the bleed. Next step they are going to have her swallow a capsule that takes thousands of pictures as it makes its way through her body.

Her memory is slowly coming back along with her sense of humor, it is so nice to see a glimpse of our mom. We are hoping to get her moved out of ICU into the other area of the hospital soon. It is going to be a long process to get her health all the way back.   With talks of a rehabilitation center to get her strength back.

With her not being able to work and my dad having to take unpaid time off work the medical bills are adding up, it is also putting a burden on their fanatical situation at home.

Please continue to give her all the love, support, understanding and encouragement. This is not going to be an easy journey for her and she is going to need us all by her side.
