Tammy Herrin Butler is one of the funniest, wittiest, and strongest women I know. She is a single mother of five and has worked long hours, extra shifts and late nights to make sure her family was taken care of her entire life.
Unfortunately, four months ago, she was very unexpectedly diagnosed with Glioblastoma and given a six month (give or take) life expectancy.
Glioblastoma is a rare form of brain cancer that is rapidly growing. The way these tumors grow is similar to poisonous vines that weave all throughout the brain matter. This makes it nearly impossible to ever remove fully.
Tammy was first taken to the hospital for stroke-like symptoms on 2/26/24. That day her family’s lives changed forever with the diagnosis of aggressive late stage brain cancer. She has since had a craniotomy to remove as much of one of the tumors as possible (3/31/24), a 3 week trial of both radiation and chemotherapy (for comfort measures/palliative care), and was recently readmitted after a fall which caused a spinal fracture (5/30/24).
Tammy still has 3 children under the age of 18 (17, 14, and 10), leaving a heavy financial burden on her oldest two children and other family members who have been pitching in to try to keep things afloat.
As of 6/5/24, she has been placed on in home hospice care in her sister’s home. This leaves her youngest children living with their grandparents as the oldest of the three works long hours to save money for an apartment for herself.
Expenses have added up so much faster than anyone could have ever imagined and the last thing anyone in this family should be stressed about is money at this time.
Any and every donation is greatly appreciated and will go towards helping alleviate the financial burdens from the family. This includes things like medical expenses, move out/move in expenses, gas money to and from hospital/doctor visits, end of-/after-life costs, and so much more.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read the story of this incredible woman and her beautiful family. We all are more thankful for every donation than you can even imagine. God bless you all.
