Tammy and David Spann

Dear friends and colleagues,

As you likely already know, Tammy was involved in a serious motorcycle accident on Sunday, May 22. She was on vacation, touring with her husband David on their quest to visit all of America’s national parks. She has spent the last week in the ICU in Reno, Nevada. Tomorrow she is scheduled to have facial surgery to fix her jaw and reset other bones. She also has a broken arm and a severe concussion. You can stay in touch with all the details through CaringBridge. David is keeping everyone up to speed on her progress. David wasn’t unscathed as he also has a serious shoulder injury and the trauma of remembering the entire ordeal. Their bikes are totaled, and it’s pretty safe to say they were lucky, which is frightening.

All of us who know them know they spend their lives helping others. So many of us, all over the world, have been touched by their coaching, intelligence, kindness and love. They are both remarkable human beings, and they can use our support. It’s hard to know how to help when something happens so far away and it will involve a lot of time for healing. And it’s scary when the path to healing isn’t clear. As you all know, Tammy and David are self-employed, complicating this for them. This fundraiser is to help them with medical bills and travel expenses associated with this ordeal. If you care to donate, please do. Anything collected beyond their costs will be donated to the hospital where they have been staying to help others in the future. (Which is exactly the kind of people Tammy and David are.)
