As many of you know, our good friend Tammie was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2014. To combat it, she had a double mastectomy and, once that healed, reconstructive surgery. Three months later, she was cancer free, but that wasn’t the end.
Six short months after the initial surgery, Tammie developed a severe infection in her left breast and returned to the doctor. She spent three months in constant appointments, receiving antibiotic infusions, and wondering what was wrong. After all this, specialists insisted the infection was coming from her reconstructed breast and her implant needed to be replaced. After the second surgery, Tammie was once again on the road to recovery. But recovery didn’t last long, and after only eight months the infection came back for a second time.
Since then, Tammie was hospitalized and her implant was again removed. Unfortunately, after the third surgery they were not able to replace the implant and she is without a breast. She has not been able to work or run her restaurant properly in the past month. As everyone close to Tammie knows, she has been focusing on taking care of her friends and family more than herself; she has been neglecting her medical bills to keep the store open, and has fallen too far behind in payments.
The time has come for those who care about Tammie to help her. Tammie has been a staple to the South Bay community since her café opened its doors almost ten years ago. During this awful time, her family and those close to her would greatly appreciate anything you can do to help – even kind thoughts or a nice word during your morning coffee run at the café. Please do what you can and keep Tammie and her family in your prayers. Thanks in advance for anything you can contribute during this hard time. ________________________________________________
