- Tammie Parrish is my best friend and cousin who lives in a small town in Mississippi. She has been diagnosed with small cell carcinoma, a very aggressive cancer. She is on Medicaid, but they are refusing to pay most of the medical bills, including much-needed medication. Her only income is what she receives from SSI, basically just enough for bills and groceries. Her family is helping as much as possible, but it's taking a financial, mental, and physical toll on them as well. I am currently getting unemployment and have time to help physically take care of her, but have little means of getting to her because I live in Alabama.
