In May of 2015 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Leiomyosarcoma cancer in the leg, liver and lung.. I started with chemo then leg surgery and radation. I was able to get a little break and scan every three months for 14 months. Then I started having severe leg pain. After the team of doctors came up empty I saw an orthopedic Dr and a nerve Dr then back to the team for a couple MRIs and an ultrasound. Well they found cancer in my spine. Which then lead to a full body scan that showed cancer on the ankle, butt cheek, back of head, a new spot on the liver , right shoulder blade and bone on the T3 in my back. I got a break but now its back with a vengeance. So off to a new type of chemo and one less job for me in 2017. Needless to say we have two very active kids, a recently purchased house and the mounting medical bills piling up. We have great insurance but a high out of pocket.
About me
I am 47 yrs old and grew up in a small Minnesota Town. Moved around a bit Colorado & Nebraska met my husband, married and have 2 girls. A hockey goalie and a dancer. (another drainer on the budget). We both work I do insurance and billing for Lifewellness center in Lakeville Mn AND I sell Tastefully Simple.
My mom has 3 sisters ALL have Cancer. My mom is a pancreatic cancer survivor oldest sister is a breast cancer survivor next died of ovarian and youngest is stage 4 ovarian & brain. My family gene pool is horrible. Most of us are BRAC2 positive. In 2012 I did a partial hysterectomy and a bilateral mastectomy drop my chances of getting cancer. SURPRIZE it didn't help...
I found a lump in my leg and went to my doctor and passed his test. A year and a half later I started having pain so I went back. MRI showed a 7.5 cm mass and was cancerous. On to another Doc found it the cancer had spread to my Lungs. Off to another Doc found it in my liver lung and leg. So off to chemo.
