Tami Helmick’s Fight
Donation protected
As many of you know we are in a trying time as a family. Not only did we lose our grandfather this past week, our mother has been in critical care for the last 72 hours.
Our mother, Tami, suffered a cardiac arrest/pulmonary embolism early Wednesday morning. Thank the lord she was at work in a cardiac unit at UNMC. After 90 minutes of CPR they were able to bring her back. She had to have an 8 hour heart surgery. She stabilized after the surgery but was on life support and dialysis. The following day she coded again (her heart stopped) and after 5 minutes of CPR they were able to get her back again. They took her back for an immediate surgery for a pace maker to help her heart. She’s stabilized over the last few days but still has a long ways to go.
She will be on life support for at least a week and the hospital for about a month if she continues to fight her way through this (she will, she’s the strongest woman I know). My sister and I will be here the entirety of the time to support her and to help make some of the decisions as we have the power of attorney.
That leaves mom and Kaylee out of work in the meantime. Our family will have a very strong financial burden coming out of this. Most of which we can handle but not all. Our family is asking for some help to supplement the payments of the medical bills, my sisters diabetes supplies, and other living expenses that can’t be made from mom and Kaylee being out of work.
Any amount little or small helps and we GREATLY appreciate all the help we can get. Mostly we ask for your love, support and prayers. Thank you and much love to all who continue to reach out and support us during these tough times. It means the world to us and our family.
