Tambre's Healing Journey

My name is Tambre Thompson. I am 50 years old. I am married and have two daughters- Rachel (18) and Jessica (12). I teach private flute lessons in my home studio in Concord, California. I enjoy walking our dog, Pepper, playing classical flute, writing, gardening, and yoga. I am reaching out for help because of my health condition. The treatments I need are not covered by our insurance as I have chosen to heal myself holistically, rather than through surgery and drugs.
In 2012 I received a diagnosis of stage 2B Breast Cancer. I had a lumpectomy which led to complications, which required a very difficult and scary hospitalization and IV antibiotics. In 2014 the same type of cancer came back in the same place. The recommended treatment was a mastectomy, and menopause-inducing injections followed by post-menopausal estrogen inhibitors. I was unable to pursue any of that at that time because of an acute case of appendicitis, which required an emergency appendectomy. I now see my acute appendicitis as my body’s way of telling me not to pursue the recommended medical course. As such, I have been investing my limited energy and money to research and implement alternative healing modalities.
Since the onset of my cancer in 2012, I have been unable to work full time. It has been challenging for my husband, Javier, to cover the regular household expenses plus my medical expenses. Because of this situation, I have been hesitant to try the healing modalities which would cost money and which I believe I need in order to save my life. Now I fear that I am risking my life by not doing the types of things I know will get me better.
One of the hardest experiences in life is to watch helplessly as someone you love suffers and not know how to help them. I've written this with the idea that I'm giving you specific ways you could provide financial support for my healing. And, for that I’d be grateful.
My extensive research has led me to seek out and work with Dr. Michael Finkelstein, an integrative health specialist and author of Slow Medicine. The new patient work up includes 3 extended consultations. The estimated cost of that is $1250 which will not be covered by my insurance. I feel my life depends on starting this process with him as soon as possible and I will need more than just these first three visits. I estimate that I will need an additional $300 a month for six months = $1800. My research has further led me to want to have the use of a far-infrared mat ($400), an all-natural mattress ($2500), far-infrared lamp ($120), medical marijuana tincture ($310 per month), 4 air cleaner/purifiers ($400), and a micro-water filter ($1000).
In a situation like mine, one of the most important aspects is to regain the sense of control. This is what I base my research on and the reason why it is important for me to connect with likeminded people and the inspiration that comes from others who have been through what I am going through now, and the potent healers who dedicate their work to the same. Among the many other positive sounding therapies I would like to pursue is the city of Walnut Creek Civic Arts Memoir program from August 22-27 ($250); an in-depth retreat with Dr. Lissa Rankin, an integrative healthcare ($2000) specialist and author of The Anatomy of A Calling from September 18-23; a 5 week second level teachings with Jill Shinn, MFCC September-October ($300); Cancer As a Turning Point two day conference September 23-24 ($200); weekly appointments with energy healers John Ortiz and Ann Whitedove ($300 a month); weekly EMDR treatments with Maxine L. Auerbach, LCSW ($520 per month); Intensive family communication work with Jared Finkelstein (no relation to Michael Finkelstein) ($400); and the Commonweal Cancer Retreat October 17-23 ($2400). Together these, I feel, would keep me on a course for deep and sustainable healing.
This is an overwhelming amount of money for us to come up with. We have done our best to save for this kind of situation, but we were not prepared for this. Any help you feel compelled to give would be so appreciated and put to good use.
I plan to write a book and tell my story about how I have healed myself from cancer and I would like to offer you a free copy as my thank you for helping me “reboot” and get healthy again through your generous donation. I can’t guarantee a delivery date for this book yet because it depends on my recovery, but I know I will get better with your help.
It's very difficult to ask for help. What has compelled me to do this is not only my desire to recover from cancer and to live a long life in good health, but also to feel that I am part of a community that can support me and to find some purpose in my process, i.e. to give back one day for others to learn from what I am doing.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this letter and for your consideration of my situation and any expression you would be comfortable with in supporting my healing. Thank you for your support- my family and I really appreciate it!
I thank you with all my heart and wish you light and love~
