My wife has been diagnosed with Dercum's disease (a top ten most painful disease in the world) now for over 10 yrs , she has had over 20 surgeries to remove these painful lipomas that accompany her disease , as well as numerous hospital stays for deadly infections. She
has been on fentanyl patches along with hydrocodone to try to cope with the pain she suffers daily...a fairly new treatment ( Ketamine infusion therapy) that is not covered by her medicare is now available to help treat her pain in a way never before imagined. The problem is this treatment is expensive without insurance and the 3 treatments needed to get her started would cost $950 each or $2850. We only would have to go back for more treatments once every 3 months which we could try to save enough each month for further treatments, if this new experimental therapy works. We can come up with a few hundred but with both of us on social security and a young daughter still living with us...there is no way we could ever hope to afford this possible miracle for her. It would take us over a year to save enough money to get her first treatments and every day she suffers is a medical nightmare for me to watch the women i love suffer so very much. I understand with the covid-19 virus its not the best of times to be asking for people to donate when they are also struggling to get by...but this unbearable pain needs to handled now...we never get a break from its existence. thank you in advance for anything you can do to help. If we can reach our goal we will keep all who donated abreast of her progress and hopeful success. Please share our story with as many friends and family as possible...greatly appreciated.
