Tamarack Wildfire Assistance

Hi! My name is Matt Gentile and I find myself needing to ask for the kindness and support of my friends and others. I am a single retiree, with no close family, and am handicapped. I worked for 27 years as support staff at San Diego Unified School District and then 11 years for the union representing school employees in California. I retired on my meager pensions to Nevada when I was 55 for health reasons. I live in the Holbrook area of Douglas County, Nevada. The Tamarack Wildfire just went through the place I live (lived). I was evacuated to a rescue shelter three nights ago. My dog and cat have been boarded safely and I visit them 2-3 times a day. I have temporarily been sent to a motel in Carson City for the next two nights. The rent per night is a little over $200 a night, and I have no savings. My sole income is from retirement pensions. I will need to find a new place to rent, pay that deposit, and move whatever I have left (if anything survived) to that new place...which may not even be in Nevada as I have nothing keeping me here. I would never normally ask for help, and have tried to live my life providing service to others, but now is the time to ask for the kindness of others in this terrible time. I know of no other viable way to get through this. All I can say is that, with your kindness to help me get through this disaster, I will most definitely pay it forward for others in need in the future.
