Tamale Teaching Hospital Cardiotocography Machines
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mariam and I am an OBGYN resident in the U.S. I recently had the opportunity to work with, and learn from, women's health providers at Tamale Teaching Hospital in Tamale, Ghana. This experience has truly impacted my career in more ways than I can list here. Given they shared with me their training, culture, time, and trust, I would like to try and show a small part of my appreciation by helping to provide an essential tool to help take care of pregnant patients.
Regular evaluation of fetuses of pregnant people can be performed with what is known as a cardiotocography (CTG) machine, an electronic tool used to trace the fetus's heart rate allowing us to detect any distress and identify that a problem may have occurred. In Tamale, the shortage of CTG machines leaves providers and patients in situations where the determination of fetal status is difficult. I would love to raise funds to purchase and donate CTG machines for the labor ward at Tamale Teaching Hospital. Any and all donations would be appreciated and will go towards helping maternal and fetal care in Tamale.
