Talvin Fund
Donation protected
Our chosen club charity this year is our Talvin Fund, a cause organised by us and the Women’s Lacrosse Club, in memory and honour of our late teammate, committeeman and friend, Talvin Khaira.
Talvin was a much loved and well-known member of our club, fulfilling the role of second team goalkeeper, as well as acting as one of the Social Secretaries on our committee last year. The time and dedication that Talvin put into his commitments to the club, alongside his studies as an aspiring dentist, was commendable. This was symbolic of both his attachment to the club and its values, as well as the brotherhood he found in the friendships he made with many, if not all, of our members.
It is with great sadness that we must share the news that in March of this year, Talvin suddenly and unexpectedly lost his life. We are all still mourning this loss, and throughout this year we will be honouring his legacy through our events and fundraising campaigns in his name. LUUMLC would also like to share that Talvin’s wish to be an organ and tissue donor was respected, saving multiple lives.
Going forward the Talvin fund will be donating to various causes and charities throughout the year and many more plans are in the works for a variety of events, fundraisers, and challenges which Talvin himself would’ve marvelled at. The money for a bench was raised over the summer by some of our members, which you can find now in the centre of Woodhouse Moor.
To Talvin, your creativity, charisma, and wit are just a microcosm of your qualities that left a hugely positive impact on our club, and your name will certainly be remembered through the stories and memories we have to share, for years far exceeding the brevity of your time with us.
We would also like to emphasise how important it is in times like these to look out for each other and anyone affected by this news. The LUUMLC committee is always available for a chat, and we have a bank of resources that we can offer to anyone that is struggling. We are one big family here, now more so than ever, and whether you are a member or not, our doors (and DMs) are always open. Thank you everyone for your support and understanding.
With Love, LUU Men’s Lacrosse Club
