Tallahassee Tornado Relief: Rebuilding a Home

Tallahassee, FL was hit by 3 tornadoes on May 10th, leaving many residents with significant property damage. A dear friend of mine was in the direct path of the EF-2, destroying his home and displacing his family. The passing tornado destroyed a large portion of the family home by downing several trees on the structure and removing a portion of the roof.

In addition to the roof, he lost a portion of his home’s living space, an attached garage, a barn and other outdoor buildings. Tree trunks and limbs have destroyed the homes wiring, ductwork, septic and drain field. All of their material possessions were destroyed by the tornado and residual inclement weather that followed, as their home remains open to the elements.

The estimated cost of repairs is significant. We are asking for the community’s help to donate towards the cost of rebuilding, as the family sorts out living arrangements, funding, insurance and immediate upfront repairs to protect all they have left. Considering the number of impacted individuals across the city, funding and repairs may not be immediate as resources are stretched thin. Any expedited funds to help at this moment are valued.
