Greetings traveler! Welcome to the tavern.
Sit down, relax, and have a drink. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Victor and I am the creative director and scriptwriter for Tall Tavern Tales.
I am very excited to show you what the team and I have been working on, and what we could achieve with your help. Let's jump in!
What is Tall Tavern Tales?
What a good question, people of the internet! Tall Tavern Tales (or TTT for short) is a D&D-inspired animatic series that will be released on Youtube in 2023. It tells the story of a hopeful young writer who is sent to the front line to witness and record the details of the ongoing war. To his surprise, however, he finds that the war is over when he arrives. But instead of going back home empty-handed, he decides to dig a little deeper. To interview the ''heroes'' of the war. This leads to a series of hilarious, tense, and maybe even emotional events that hopefully answer the 2 burning questions on the writer's mind: ''What really happened after the war?'' and ''What does it mean to be a hero?''
What sets TTT apart from other (animatic) series?
''We are not like other animatic series.''
This story is told through multiple, occasionally conflicting perspectives.
Since the writer will be speaking with different survivors of the war, he will receive a variety of perspectives on what happened. This is not only voiced excellently by our ridiculously talented voice actors, but each perspective will be animated in a different animation style that reflects the character of the storyteller. To give some examples:
- One of the storytellers may have a very high opinion of himself and sees himself as an action hero. So his stories are animated with very quick scenes. A lot of straight lines and sharp animation. Putting him in the center, pulling off amazing feats of heroism and acrobatics. Everything seen as a life or death situation.
- Whereas another storyteller might be a very kind-hearted, positive person. This means the animation will reflect that in the art style (being more round and drawn softer) with the people in his story seeming a lot friendlier, and the situation much less dire. He also is a big man in real life.
The possibilities are endless!
So why do you need my support?
I have not-so-subtly been informed that artists also need to pay rent (I know right, who would have thought?!). Making an animatic series is not done in a day. It takes many hours of work from very talented people to make this happen. And since we are a group of independent artists without a huge studio behind us, we rely on your support to make our dream and vision come to life. The plan is to make a short 6-episode series that will be released on Youtube for everyone to enjoy. Of course, we have big dreams that include making more seasons, a musical episode, a video game, a featured movie, touring stage plays, and... okay maybe take it one step at a time :D
But what do I get out of it?
You want more than our undying gratitude? Alrighty then!
We have set up a tier system that will not only show you our gratitude but also makes you part of the actual project!
Have a look at what is possible.
€1 and above: The aforementioned undying gratitude!
€50 and above: You will get early access to the episodes AND our gratitude (the undying kind).
€100 and above: Your name will be put in the credits of the episodes + all the rewards from the lower tiers.
€250 and above: You will receive a personal message from 1 of the amazing voice actors of the series. This message will be IN CHARACTER. + all the rewards from the lower tiers.
€450 and above: One of our incredible animators will draw a version of you or your D&D character in the storyteller art style of your choice. + all the rewards from the lower tiers.
€600 and above: Your animated character from the previous tier will be featured in the background of the tavern in 1 of the episodes. + all the rewards from the lower tiers.
€850 and above: Your animated character from the previous tiers will be a tavern regular and appear in every episode of this first season. + all the rewards from the lower tiers.
€1000 and above: You will get to take part in an online D&D 5e game that will be DM'ed by the series writer and director. + all the rewards from the lower tiers.
