Help A Taliesin Architect Recover From Complete Loss
Donation protected
Louis Wiehle, 94, was a member of the Taliesin Fellowship from 1950 to 1964. Louis made significant contributions to more than 50 Frank Lloyd Wright building projects, including the Guggenheim Museum for which he designed furniture and many interior finish elements. After Wright's passing Louis contributed as architect to 17 additional Taliesin Architects designs. During the following decades he has practiced organic architecture in Southern California in private practice and produced designs for more than 100 architectural projects.
During the first few days of the Pacific Palisades fire, his rented home burned to the ground. Louis escaped the conflagration with the only clothes on his back. A lifetime of possessions, including his library, memorabilia, and significant pieces of art, were turned to ash. Nothing was left.
In November 2024, he was awarded the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award by the Organic Architecture and Design Archives (OA&DA). OA&DA is seeking to raise the means for Louis to buy basic necessities and help re-establish himself with a living situation in Los Angeles. Please consider giving assistance for this lifelong practitioner of organic design principles to recover from the devastating loss he has suffered.
