Talia's Cancer story

Donation protected
On Friday, November 28, Talia was brought to the emergency department in Sudbury due to unexplained bruising. After testing, doctors discovered that her major blood cells and platelets were significantly lower than normal. She was admitted to Neo Kids, where she began medication to help stabilize her condition.

On November 29, Talia was flown to Sick Kids in Toronto, where she was diagnosed with APL Leukemia.

Talia will remain at SickKids for the initial phase of her treatment, which is expected to last between 29 and 70 days. Once she enters Phase 2, she will continue treatment—including chemotherapy—on an outpatient basis (two weeks on, two weeks off) for approximately 7–9 months.

Talia is a 17-year-old girl who is just beginning her life. She is kind, loving, funny, genuine, and deeply caring. She is still in high school and was recently accepted into college for September 2026. She has her whole future ahead of her and so many goals she is eager to pursue. Her family is heartbroken, but staying strong for her.

We are now reaching out for your help. Her mom Natalie is self-employed and, due to these heartbreaking circumstances, will be unable to work while she focuses on caring for Talia in Toronto. It is incredibly important that Talia be surrounded by her family during this time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read Talia’s story. We are forever grateful for any support you can give. Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a meaningful difference.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
