Short Trailer for Tales of Railway's Past
"Amongst the rural scenery, there is little left that would indicate the past presence of a railway line. Most of it now is farmland, covered in cattle, brambles and bogland.
But if you look closely and squint your eyes, you can start to see the embankments, the stone ruins, the little clues of a turbulent time for West Clare which like the tracks are long gone.
Like the odd clues amongst the rural landscape, exist the elders of the land. Who although between few and scattered, can remember the time of their youth, 1950s Ireland, and the time of the railway"
Tales of Railway's Past
"Tales of Railway's Past" follows the director's childhood admiration towards trains as he walks and camps along the abandoned West Clare Railway, looking for those who can recall their memories of the railway.
The documentary will use a combination of footage of the West Clare Railway as it is now, interviews with locals conducted by the director throughout his journey mixed with animation to visually realise the memories of the elders who can remember what it was like growing up with a railway around them.
Documentary making is an extensive process, although we are a large crew of students working out of passion, costs do come up. Your donation will be going towards renting equipment, transport up and down to West Clare, food for the crew, accommodation and so on. Any donation big or small will go a long way in helping us create the best documentary we can.
Please enjoy some photos from development so far :)
