Greetings to whomever it may interest, My name is Talbot Varcoe and I have recently been offered by the Sports Travel Australia Agency located in Sebastopol (Ballarat) Victoria a “once in a life time chance” to travel to Canada as one of the 80 students around Victoria to represent our region, state and country to compete at the Canadian athletics tour competition. I am requesting donations to raise money for this event to become possible as my parents are dairy farmers and have limited financial resources. Information on the tour This event occurs during the 26th of June and lasts until the 14th of July. June the 26th the athletes will leave Australia from Melbourne airport and land in Vancouver Canada, and then we will take a bus to Kelowna to kick-start the tour off. This tour includes visits to Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Anaheim, Hollywood and Los Angeles. Whilst on this tour we compete in four events against others similar to our own level of athletic performance, before each competition, we spend the previous day professionally training in venues provided to us through this tour. We not only compete whilst on this tour, we also get the opportunity to go white water rafting, visit Whistler Mountain, Disneyland in California and we also visit the Santa Monica Pier in Hollywood. The 13th of July we depart the Los Angeles airport and arrive back in Australia on the 14th. This event costs a total of $7,875 dollars and payments are due in by the 1st of June 2019, however you need to have payed at least $1,500 dollars by the 1st of February. Unfortunately, my family is unable to fund the full amount required for this event; therefore, I am reaching out to generous people in hope of achieving my goal. These funds you donate provide each athlete with breakfast, dinner and lunch on competition day, as well as covering all airflight costs, accommodation, organised entertainment, sightseeing and venue entries whilst receiving tour uniform and tour management and supervision. About me I currently attend secondary school at Kyabram P-12 college studying Outdoor Education, VET auto, General Mathematics, English Language, Business Management and Physical Education. I am a very outgoing and happy 16-year-old male with a great deal of resilience, respect, determination and hard work. I enjoy listening to music and participating in any sporting activity, I more specifically enjoy the sport AFL and competing in athletics events. I have represented the Murray Football league in the U16s competition in 2018 representing Tongala Football Club during this previous season. I have previously won the Kyabram P-12 College U15s athletics boys champion and U16s athletics boys champion medals through my hard work, determination and my biggest asset Resilience. I Have also won the SSV Campaspe U15s athletics boys champion medal, as well as representing my school at Regional and State level on multiple occasions. I have always had a passion for travelling ever since I was a small kid. This would be my first time travelling overseas and I believe this is a great way to start one of many adventures to come. History about this event Sports Travel Australia is an independent travel agency that first conducted the tour to Canada in 1990, they have been lucky enough to be invited back each year by the Canadian Clubs that conduct this annual athletics meet in British Columbia.
