Taking what I can in my van to help Ukraine
Donation protected
Hi there friends, family and anybody who has found this page. I like everybody I guess have been watching the desperate situation in Ukraine deteriorate over the past days. The images of families torn apart, particularly children, have been incredibly upsetting.
I have been wondering what I can do to help. I have been inspired by people who have decided to give up their time to ferry supplies over to the region and I thought I could do that. So this is what I have decided to do. I can offer a small token to show my support and solidarity to the Ukrainian people.
I have found a local business here in Cornwall, Darrens Cars who have already been receiving donations and had more supplies than they could transport in their first run to Poland. I have offered to take some of these in my van. I have a good friend Daniel Gadowski in London who is going to help me along the way. Daniel is from Poland and was on board from the minute I sent the text "how long does it take to drive to Poland!" Between us we are looking to get the supplies over there and be back within four days……..hopefully. I am planning to set off from Cornwall on Friday afternoon.
We are not currently looking for further donations of items, as we have this covered through the wonderful help of Darren’s Cars. We may buy further supplies on route, especially if we learn of items which are desperately needed and fill the van to the brim. Any donations to help cover the costs will be incredible and gratefully received. Every penny over the cost of fuel and channel crossings will be donated (50/50) to the Red Cross and Save the Children.
Thank you so much Andrew & Daniel
