Hi, my name is Jane and on 5th July, I’ll be taking on a challenge that’s definitely going to test my nerves – abseiling down the iconic Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth… all 100 metres of it!
If that sounds slightly terrifying, that’s because it is – but it’s nothing compared to what so many people face every day when battling cancer.
This isn’t my first descent – I previously conquered King Alfred’s Tower, which gave me a taste for pushing myself way out of my comfort zone. But this time, I’m taking on something bigger, higher, and far more daunting… the “big one.”
Why I’m doing this
I’m raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, an incredible charity that provides vital support to people living with cancer and their families. From emotional support to practical advice and financial guidance, Macmillan is there when people need it most.
Cancer touches so many lives, and this is my way of giving something back and helping ensure nobody has to face it alone.
The challenge
Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth
5th July
100 metres high
One very nervous but determined abseiler!
I’ll be stepping backwards over the edge from over 100 metres up, trusting the ropes, and hopefully remembering to breathe all the way down!
How you can help
If you can, please consider donating – every pound really does make a difference. Whether it’s a small amount or a big one, your support will mean the world to me (and will definitely help motivate me when I’m stood at the top looking down!).
And if donating isn’t possible, sharing this page would be hugely appreciated
Thank you so much for your support – now wish me luck… I think I’m going to need it!
