Taking Stuart Hoffman's Music to the Next Level

Donation protected
Hi. Mitch Ditkoff here, a long-time friend of Stuart Hoffman -- an LA-based songwriter, pianist, composer, and producer of inspired music. On Stuart's behalf, I am launching this GoFundMe campaign. Please take a moment now to consider his request and see if there is a way you can be of support. What follows is a message from Stuart -- from his heart to yours.

"Greetings! At 68, I find myself at a very interesting crossroads in my life – one that will require some support from my community of friends and fans.

As many of you know, I have written and produced a wide variety of songs over the past 20 years, many of which have been produced as CDs and released through Eversound and on Bandcamp.

The work has been joyful, fulfilling and has touched a lot of people. It has been a true labor of love. I have been fortunate in my life that I never had to depend solely on my music as my primary income stream.

However over the past few years that has changed dramatically -- which is precisely why I am reaching out to you now.

For people with my particular skillset and experience, the best way to make a living these days is by placing our songs in movies and television. That's where the money is. But in order to break into that world, the production of many of my songs will need to be upgraded so they will be seriously considered by movie and TV Music Supervisors -- the "guardians at the gates".

The other reason I am fundraising is so I can continue offering my services to worthy NGOs (like WAFA, for example) either for free (or for a dramatically discounted fee) -- a way to help them get their vital message out into the world.

Here is the anthem I produced for the Water Air and Food Awards. No charge.

Towards that end, I will need to hire an “A” team of stellar musicians and sound engineers to work their magic.

At $2,000 per song, this will require a $10,000 investment – money I do not have. That's where YOU, hopefully, come in.

Think of this, if you like, as a kind of musical "barn raising", but the end product is not a barn. It's five world-class-produced songs that I can showcase to the music industry.

MY "A" TEAM OF MUSICIANS (currently "standing by"):

Jerry Marrota (drums and percussion): Jerry has performed with Peter Gabriel, Paul McCartney, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Tears for Fears, Sarah McLachlan, John Mayer, etc.

Fuzzbee Morse (guitar, bass, and flute): Fuzzbee has performed with Peter Gabriel, Bono, Frank Zappa, Sting, Lou Reed, Aaron Neville, Jaco Pastorius, The Chambers Brothers, Ric Ocasek, Richie Havens, Joan Baez, etc.

Steve Sykes (mixing engineer): Steve has worked with David Benoit, Al Jarreau, Isley Brothers, Stanley Clarke, Luther Vandross Tribute, and Engelbert Humperdinck, etc.

Pete Doell (mastering engineer): Pete worked with Miles Davis, Richard Marx, Eddie Money, Bob Seger, George Benson, Harry Belafonte, Stray Cats, Steve Miller Band, and Dwight Yoakam, etc.

Stephen Rivera (vocals): An extraordinary singer who has worked closely with me on several songs.

NOTE: A good thing that evolved out of the Covid period was the perfecting of technology that allowed musicians to work virtually, enabling them to create in their own studios/workspace and collaborate with other musicians, producers and engineers around the world.

THE PRODUCTION PROCESS TO COME:
1. I provide each musician with a stereo mix
2. Each musician records their own performance and sends it to me
3. I listen, then forward my feedback & suggestions to the musicians
4. Musicians tweak their performances, as needed
5. I edit and pre-mix their performances
6. We repeat the process until the songs are as good as possible
7. I send the pre-mix to the engineers for the final mix
8. The engineers do their engineering thing
9. I collaborate with the engineers to refine the final mix
10. The engineers forward me the Master mix
11. I upload the Master mix to my Bandcamp page
12. I forward the Master mix to Music Supervisors from the TV and Movie industries

PRODUCTION BUDGET:
• $6,000 -- musician salaries
• $2,500 -- engineers salaries
• $1,500 -- producer (me) salary

TIMING: The recording/mixing process will take 1-3 months per song.

MORE BACKGROUND:

So there you have it, dear friends -- my humble request for you to contribute to the upgrade of my music so I can radically increase the odds of doing my best to bring more joy, inspiration, and peace to a world that sorely needs it. Anything you can contribute is deeply appreciated. No contribution is too small. Thank you!

My newest song: "Fall Back Into Me"
