Taking steps to help my stepson

Donation protected
Hello everyone!

As some of you will know, back at the start of the pandemic my lovely 28 year old stepson Bob was suddenly diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal cancer. Unfortunately by the time it was discovered, it had already spread.

That was two years ago. Since that day, the treatment Bob has been though has been continuous, relentless and totally exhausting, but he has never stopped looking ahead, writing his glorious music and of course hoping. Never stopped.

This year he embarked on another chemotherapy cocktail and alongside it he was given a drug called Avastin. Last week they discovered this new combination had, for the first time since this all started, stopped the cancer growing. No growth. Stability, finally.

But Avastin isn’t on the NHS, and Bob can’t work full time to pay for it because the chemo knocks him out every other week.

So as his step father, I’m taking steps to help him – quite a lot of steps actually… my good friend Toby Hayward and I are going to walk Hadrian’s Wall, all 84 miles of it. We set out in just two weeks on May 18th

We’re doing it to raise money for Bob’s Avastin, so he doesn’t have to worry about paying for it. He’s done enough worrying over the last two years.

It will cost him £6,000 a year, and he is going to have to take it indefinitely. We would really like to make a big dent in that figure. Anything we can raise is good. I have also set up a fundraiser on Facebook as well as this GoFundMe page.

I know, it’s a strange and turbulent year isn’t it, and I do appreciate this is a big ask.

And talking of big asks, I hope to trim mine down across the breadth of Britain…

Thank you, Tyler x
