Taking Simone Landwehr-Traxler Home
Donation protected

Simone Landwehr-Traxler was my friend, partner, confidante collaborator and the mother to our three children. Simone was a talented visual artist www.smlandwehrtaxler.comand contributed to many parts of the civic and social fabric of Glasgow an active member of the German speaking Kinder Club, the home education group and the Steiner community. During nearly twenty years we enjoyed untold adventures which were largely underwritten through Simone’s boundless energy and vision.
On 22nd of December 2018 Simone succumbed to a cancer that had been only diagnosed that September. A cancer that had been hidden in plain sight for God knows how long- her pain dismissed as anxiety, the menopause, and or depression.
Throughout her life Simone always sought to defy the obvious and though gravely ill she still refused to accept the inevitable.
Conventional wisdom stated that someone ‘that ill’ needed to be in either a hospital or hospice care. However, Simone longed to be in her own home, in her own room listening to the birds and seeing the trees and feeling the wind on her face and with inexhaustible courage and bravery she made that possible.

We managed, with considerable help from professionals and friends and family, for a little over three months in which time our children had the comfort of knowing that their mother was there with them and through (latterly) bed bound and in significant pain Simone was still able to enjoy the rhythms of normal family life in her room.
Simone loved Scotland and Glasgow but her dearest wish was to return to Bavaria.
The last three months have been exhausting in every way, not least financially and the whilst we have managed the majority of the costs includig the cremation but we are asking for support to help bring Simone home. The place we have found is in Allgäu called Schöllang

It is near Simone's sisters home and, we all know it, having cycled and swam in the area. I know Simone would have loved it; high up on a hill looking to the mountains and with a river and trees below.
The money will help us have Simone's remains interred, have an inscription on the tomb and secure the plot for 30 years and host a service.
