This September 14th, one of our very own, Keith Ennis from Smile FC, will be taking on an incredible challenge: "The Lap" around Lake Windermere! This isn't just a scenic stroll; it's a monumental 47-mile (75km) ultra-trail race that circumnavigates England's largest lake, involving significant elevation and a true test of endurance.

Keith is undertaking "The Lap" for a cause incredibly close to our entire Smile FC football family: to raise vital funds for Batten Disease. Batten disease is a group of rare, inherited neurological disorders that cause progressive intellectual disability, seizures, and visual and motor impairment. It's a devastating condition that currently has no cure, profoundly affecting the lives of children and their families. This disease has touched our football family personally, which makes his commitment to raising awareness and funds even stronger. Every penny raised will go directly towards funding crucial research, providing support to affected families, and raising much-needed awareness.

A quick word about Smile FC: We're a charity football club that uses the joy of the game to actively raise funds for local charities, holding over 100 sessions annually and aiming to contribute £200 every month. While Keith isn't officially representing the club in this specific run, his participation truly embodies the spirit of giving back that defines our team.

Training for 47 miles is a huge commitment, both physically and mentally. There will be tough days, but knowing that every step is helping to fight Batten Disease and reflects the caring spirit of our football family will be his constant motivation.
