Darrin and I became friends in 1985. That’s 40 years ago. We were distant cousins, but mostly, we were that chosen family that some people are lucky enough to build. Darrin lived with my family for a few years. My entire adult life, he has been there - and now I want us to be there for him. Darrin passed away on Wednesday, October 22, after a long hard battle with inoperable throat cancer.

Darrin was cremated, and his ashes will be scattered, probably in spring 2026.

We tried to spend as little as possible on his final arrangements, believing that all that’s left is the shell - but we also want to respect his legacy and life. Cremation expenses were $2,405. In addition, there is a fee of up to $400 for his celebration of life event.

I know Darrin wouldn’t want his little sister to have to bear this expense, but all of his money went to straight to medical expenses.

Donations from this gofundme will go directly to Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home in Sidney, Ohio. Any remaining funds will cover expenses of his celebration of life.

Should there be a remaining balance, his friends and family will choose non-profits in the LGBTQ, youth services, and animal welfare arenas to receive donations in Darrin’s name.
