Taking Care of Bo Bertino
Recently Bo Bertino, was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis, an incredibly rare bone marrow cancer. It is a very progressive disease yet, it can be cured with an aggressive treatment protocol.
Bo's only chance for beating this will require a bone marrow transplant. He has entrusted his treatment to the best doctors at the Wilmot Cancer Center, here in Rochester. Slated for the fall, Bo has been prepared that the the treatment protocol could take a significant toll on him for quite sometime. The treatment requires chemotherapy, then six weeks in the hospital, followed by another six weeks at home
recovering. During this time at home, Bo will need to stay as isolated as possible as the treatment will have wiped out his immune system.
Good thing we had a year to practice social distancing!
If you know Bo, you know that he would say he needs nothing except prayers. If you know Bo, he is the guy that is always making sure
others are taken care of and okay, most especially his family. If you know Bo, he is the man that will literally give you the last $5 in his
pocket to make sure you don't go without.
Even though he would not want to ask, trouble anyone, or have people worry about him, Bo is the person who could use support right now. With the looming medical bills and the reality that he will not be able to work for over a year, Bo needs to be the person that will not go
without. We want him to be able to focus on his health and kicking this cancer to the curb.
Bo is unaware we have put this together, because knowing him, he wouldn't want people to worry! Yet so many people have
reached out to see how they can support their friend Bo and his family. The sports community that he has been a part of for more than 60
years have come out in force and are ready to support their teammate and friend. So if you can join us in supporting Bo in anyway
comfortable for you, he could really use it right now.
Thank you for any support you can lend and for keeping Bo in your prayers. With our support, he will beat this!
