I wrote this play as part of my training at East 15 Drama School, and after it was received so well at our own devising fest, my peers urged me to take it further.
This piece of theatre is based on an ADHD support group. It watches unlikely relationships form through the chaos and natural dramatic comedy that occurs when neurodivergent people try to navigate through day-to-day life. It sheds light on mental health issues I have experienced personally and experienced while working with children and young adults with learning and behavioural difficulties for over five years.
We hope that using a comedic lens to highlight the issues surrounding ADHD will help to raise awareness while entertaining all those who view the production.
As someone that has ADHD and had to navigate the nonexistent mental health support and information available, it has become a passion of mine to spread awareness. I want people trying to work out who they are that 'not normal' is normal; understanding and acceptance are vital to being your best self, and finally, just because your brain works differently doesn't mean you have to feel different.
All funds donated will go into producing this groundbreaking play and taking my six talented actors, who have graciously volunteered, to the Edinburgh Fringe this August 2022!
Thank you so much for reading this and taking part.
