My name is RJ McKeehan and I am an internationally recognized sword expert. I began my journey into swords and martial arts 10 years ago, and in that time I have created one of the largest HEMA clubs and retailers in North America. I've worked hard to promote HEMA and have achieved great success in cutting competitions, even in making it onto national television cutting things with swords!

For about 8 years, I have been sharpening swords on a Harbor Freight 1x30 sander (about $50). I have burned out the motors on two of them and am ready to take my craft to the next level.

Upgrading to a 2x72 grinder will drastically decrease my sharpening and metal shaping times. This will allow me to offer sharpening at far cheaper prices than ever before as well as open me up to doing much bigger, more complex grinds. With this sander I will be able to completely reprofile the geometry of a blade, from distal taper to adding fullers! These are projects that people have requested, but that my current equipment has been unable to handle. However, at the moment I can't move to a better grinder without your help.

I don't want your money for nothing, though! I would like to pre-sell services that I will complete for you with the new sander. Don't have a sword or knife that needs sharpening? I can also critique your cutting/fighting to help you improve.

$1,000 - FREE SWORD/KNIFE SHARPENING FOR LIFE!

$500 - A knife! I will make you a knife with my new sander.

$100 - 10 swords sharpened (or 20 knives)

$60 - Heavy reprofiling / distal taper changes on a blade

$40 - I will review a video of your cutting (up to 10 cuts) or fighting (up to 5 minutes) in depth, and give you a list of every correction I can think of

$20 - 1 sword OR 2 knives sharpened

$10 - 1 knife sharpened

$5 - I will publicly thank you via livestream and other methods, and I will be very thankful for the support.

I have done the math and, with the current discount offered by Brodbeck Ironworks through That Works, the sander plus the belts to start me out are going to cost nearly $2,700 in total:

If I reach $2,200, I will contribute $500 of my own money to get it over the edge. If I am unable to reach $2,200, I will cancel the campaign and refund everyone.
