“Take Care” - Production and Mentorship Funds

Hi it’s me again, doing another go fund me, but this time for something very different and very exciting!

We are reaching out with a hopeful heart to invite your support in bringing a meaningful story to life — a short film titled Take Care, directed by Faith Sparrow-Crawford and Scarlett Sparrow-Felix. Below is a message from these two filmmakers:

“Take Care is a deeply personal narrative rooted in our own experience with loss, love, and the delicate act of holding each other up during life’s most difficult moments. Set over four days between death and a funeral, the story follows a young Coast Salish girl named Hope as she navigates the grief of losing her grandmother — the most important person in her life — and witnesses the complicated dynamics of her family come to the surface as they gather to say goodbye.

Through laughter, arguments, memories, and tears, this film captures the intricacies of Coast Salish families in grief, and the love that holds families together even when they feel like they’re falling apart. It is a story about legacy, about tradition, and about a young girl finding her own way to honour her past while stepping into her future.

We’re proud to share that Take Care has received grant support from an Indigenous film funding body, a vote of confidence that affirms the value of this story. With initial production support in place, we are now seeking additional funding to support two key areas: post-production and our capacity-building efforts, which include bringing on and mentoring Musqueam youth interested in careers in the film industry. By offering hands-on experience on a professional set, we hope to create long-term impact beyond this one story.

This project is not only a cinematic tribute to our loved ones and our culture, but also an opportunity to invest in the next generation of Indigenous storytellers. We would be honoured to offer an Executive Producer credit or special thanks to significant supporters who help make this vision possible.

While this story is specific to Coast Salish culture, we know that at the heart of this film are universal emotions that every human being has experienced. We all have felt the pain of losing a loved one, and have needed to lean on one another for support and love.

At the end of the day, all we hope is that this film can contribute some good into the world — and share a glimpse of the pure magic and blessing it is to be Indigenous.”

Thank you for considering this meaningful project and thank you in advance!
