Who are we?
Take Bike The Streets is a project spearheaded by a diverse, grassroots coalition of community members and partnering organizations committed to Gary, Indiana becoming as inclusive as possible, to promote access for all in the greater Northwest Indiana/ Chicagoland area.
What are we raising money for?
We are installing a Zagster Bikeshare in Gary and want to include an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible bike.
Why are we pursuing this project?
We are committed to becoming as inclusive as possible as a community and to promoting access for all in the greater Northwest Indiana/ Chicagoland area. This project is a critical step toward achieving the universal access goals shared by the City of Gary’s Barrier Free Beach 2020 initiative and the Access Miller Beach Neighborhood Spotlight Community Plan .
What’s the entire project’s budget?
The cost of the Take Bike the Streets project is $25,000. By working together (the partners listed below) have secured a $23,400 via grants and donations).
Our request:
We’re almost to our goal! Please help us raise the remaining $1600 to install Northwest Indiana's 1st accessible bikeshare!
