Hi, my name is Jaydeen Burke, aka Tajé. I am a 24 year old young adult who has been diagnosed with sickle cell since I was 7 months old. I reside in the parish of Portland, Jamaica.
Since my diagnosis I’ve been fighting this battle and have spent many days, at times weeks in and out of the hospital. Due to this illness I was later diagnosed with AVN, which is Avascular Necrosis, in my hip. The left femoral head had collapsed, hence the urgency to do hip replacement surgery.
I am currently on the road to recovery but it has proven to be challenging with having to meet the financial commitments and being over 50 miles away from home.
I should also mention that my main support system is my mom. Through it all she has managed to stand strong next to me both financially and physically.
However, she has spent her all and needs help to assist me on my way to make a full recovery.
Currently I have JMD46,117.41 outstanding from doing the major surgery for hip replacement. I have also been back in the hospital due to the wound becoming infected.
It is now required that an operation be done June 10, 2026 to close the wound due to the severity of the wound exposure. This will cost $207,441.
It also required that I do therapy for a total of 8 weeks at 2 sessions per week which cost $6000 per session.
Your help on this road to recovery would be tremendous, well received and greatly appreciated. It will aid in settling the finances with the hospital and aid with transportation and after care.
Thanks,
Tajé
