I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share something deeply personal and unexpected. My partner and I are in the midst of planning our wedding — a time that’s supposed to be joyful and full of love — but unfortunately, we recently experienced something that has been emotionally and financially devastating.

We were recently given $500 as a generous gift toward our wedding. It meant the world to us, and we were so grateful. Sadly, I fell victim to a phone scam shortly after receiving the money. The scammer was incredibly convincing, and in the moment, I was terrified and overwhelmed. I didn’t know what to do, and before I could process what was happening, the money was gone.

I feel so embarrassed and heartbroken to even have to share this, but I know I’m not alone — scams are becoming more and more sophisticated, and they prey on fear and urgency. I’m doing my best to move forward, but that money was a meaningful part of our wedding budget, and losing it has put extra stress on an already tight situation.
