These debaters... Taite, Ailene, Natalie and Maddy... have qualified for the 2023 National Individual Events Tournament of Champions in May!

-Taite, has qualified to do extemporaneous speaking. In this event, students receive a choice of 3 current event prompts. They then have 30 minutes to prepare and practice before delivering their speech. They recently became WA State Champion in this event. Out of 9 times competing in WA state, Taite took first 8 times this season.

-Ailene, has qualified to take BOTH her Program Oral Interpretation and her Informative Speech! Recently, Ailene placed 3rd in Program of Oral Interpretation at State! In POI, students use different selections of literature to prove a thesis through a performance they create using the literature. Her POI is titled "Teenage Dream" and her Informative is 10 memorized minutes on the Politicization of Birth Control!

- Natalie & Maddy have qualified to take their Duo Interpretation! At State, these two placed 3rd in Duo Interpretation! In this event, the students select a script to act for 10 minutes while using a thesis to show how the script connects to a larger issue.

I am incredibly proud of each of their achievements, but now comes the hard part... fundraising to attend. The students have estimated their costs for this tournament to be at about $5,000 to include airfare, hotel, transportation, etc. If you can support them in anyway, please do!
