Hello, I'm Megan and I have a wonderful 11 year old cat named Louie who was hit by a car on Wednesday, December 15th. He has some scrapes, a little road rash, relatively severe damage to his front and back claws, and the x-rays showed that we got lucky in that the only major damage was to his tail, which is fractured in two places and needs to be amputated at the base. Right now he's at home with me, somewhat comfortable with pain management medication, but he does need to have surgery, possibly as soon as Friday. When Covid hit I stayed home to care for my ailing parents, and when my mom passed in March it meant I would have to stay out of work to care for my father who has dementia and cannot be left alone. Money was already very tight, and I have to say this was a pretty devastating blow, emotionally and financially. The initial exam, images, and medications came to over $500, which was literally 85% of the money I had in the bank, both for bills and Christmas. I forgot to ask the vet how much he thought surgery would be, but based on the national averages, I'm hoping that $2,000 will cover everything from today through his recovery. Asking for money is something I am loathe to do, but if there is any way you could spare anything at all, it would be tremendously appreciated. I fully understand that times are hard for a lot of people right now, so if financial contribution is not something you can afford, sharing this post to your social media page would be equally as appreciated. I truly adore this animal, he is warm, loving, and so loyal, and I'm just hoping to get him the best care I can; he deserves so much better than what he's going through at the moment.
