vet care for my old boy and his tail

heya, my name is lilac. i’m 18, and i’m fundraising for my old man ted. i’ve had him for 10 years now since he was a baby and im moving to uni soon, im going to miss him so much. unfortunately in recent months he has been hostile towards his tail. he has been to the vets once and put on a course of antibiotics incase it was infected but we have had no luck. he keeps attacking it, and only it. he’s a lovely boy who just dislikes his tail. the vet suggested he may need an amputation if nothing gets better and i want the best for my old man even if im not necessarily by his side. the amputation itself would be over 1k, but honestly, anything helps. i want the last few years of his life to be as comfortable as possible as he has been by my side for over half of my life, and i wouldn’t be asking unless i was truly desperate. thankyou for anything you can give
