This message is directed to you — my friend, colleague, relative, or acquaintance. Especially if you don’t have a personal connection to the Philippines.
What happened:
My second home, Cebu (Philippines), was struck by a devastating typhoon on November 3–4.
When I woke up the next morning, my entire social media feed was filled with images of destruction. We knew the typhoon was coming, and my family had prepared as best as they could - especially after recent earthquakes and past storms.
But no one was prepared for the scale of flooding that followed. Entire regions were submerged. Homes, livelihoods, and lives were swept away.
Watching from safe Germany as everything in the area you know so well gets destroyed and not knowing at first whether your family and friends are even safe is indescribably painful.
Who this is about:
The most affected of my close family is my aunt, together with her two sons and their families. They run a small chicken processing business in Consolacion that provides work and housing for 43 people.
In addition, many of our relatives and friends living in poorer areas have been severely affected.
In total, we’re talking about at least 150 people (including more than 50 children) we want to support directly.
What we need support for:
Right now, it’s about survival and rebuilding until infrastructure is restored and life can return to some kind of “normal“ (this will take lots of time we guess).
Your contribution will help funding urgently needed essentials such as:
• Food
• Medicine and hygiene supplies
• Clothing
• School materials
• Construction materials for damaged homes and basic household items
Alternatively or additionally:
If you prefer to donate to an official organization, I warmly recommend German Doctors and „Bündnis Entwicklung hilft“.
German Doctors is working closely with the Citizens’ Disaster Response Center Inc. (CDRC) in the heavily affected region Talisay. They coordinate food aid packages for affected families. A friend from my Filipino community is involved in this effort from German Doctors side and keeps us updated.

Every contribution, no matter how small, truly makes a difference.
How else you can help:
Please share this appeal or the mentioned donation campaigns with others, and help raise awareness of the situation in the Philippines.
I would be deeply grateful.
Thank you / Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat!
With love and gratitude,
Jenny

About me:
My name is Jenny Reith and I live in Germany. I’m raising funds to support affected relatives and friends. I believe together we can achieve more than a few persons alone. My family and I already help as much as we can, and I’ll share updates and photos about how the donations are used.
