Help Tai Mansfield & Their Family Avoid Homelessness
Donation protected
Tai Mansfield is a parent and active community member in Victoria, BC who has been sober for 3 years. They currently are at imminent risk for homelessness due to many external factors at play. Tai is currently unable to work full-time due to disabilities (and is recognized by the BC Government’s Persons with Disabilities Department), although they do paint; while they have a contract this work is not financially lucrative. Tai has been diagnosed with a variety of mental health conditions that further impacts their ability to work. In addition to being an artist, Tai is also a certified permaculture teacher, and certified life coach.
Tai has a 15 year old son who has decided to not live with them due to grocery barriers.
Tai's mother was providing some financial assistance however they have now ceased this support. They have now been notified by their landlord that they must vacate their current housing effective September 30th. Due to a bureaucratic error Tai's disability payments have been withheld for the past three months and this has meant that Tai has not been able to pay their rent.
Tai is on the BC housing Registry and has applied to Pacifica Housing. Tai has an 11 year old son that they would like to have stay with them on weekends but this has posed an issue as most housing supports only can house 1 individual.
As of Tuesday, October 1st Tai will be homeless.
We are asking our community to provide some financial assistance to Tai so that they can secure safe, affordable housing. We are looking for money to cover their storage locker while they look for a place to live. Any extra funds raised will go toward child and living expenses.
We are asking the community to help this beautiful soul in any way they can and appreciate any help!
