I'm running the Tahoe 200 on June 13th to raise awareness and support for mental health, a cause that's deeply personal to me. Someone very close to me has lived with schizophrenia their whole life, and I’ve seen firsthand how incredibly challenging and debilitating mental illness can be, not just for the person suffering, but for those who love them.
This run is my way of honouring her strength and resilience, and of standing with everyone who faces mental health challenges. Through this journey, I hope to inspire support, spark conversations, and help make a difference.
I'm raising money to benefit CMHA-Calgary, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
CMHA-Calgary provide many programs that assist with maintaining mental health. Our newest programs are a welcome centre where people can receive peer support from a trained peer support worker (including a call-in phone line) and a recovery college which offers 100's of free courses on topics affecting our mental health.
We also offer suicide bereavement counselling and family support programs. We offer supportive living housing programs in group homes and apartment complexes for those with a mental illness.
