Tahlea Toohey - Road to success

Hi everyone, My name is Tahlea Toohey and I’m a 65kg female boxer from Brisbane, Queensland. After competing in my first elite national championships last year and receiving a silver medal, I’m currently ranked number 2 in Australia.

From walking into a boxing gym at only 12 years old to try something new - I am now 20 years old with 49 fights (37 wins) under my belt. I have competed at multiple State and Australian championships as well as being fortunate enough to have represented Australia multiple times on the international stage!

I recently headed to Canberra from 28-31st of May for the world championships trials receiving a silver medal after losing closely to a 2024 Olympian.

Then, from the 10th-20th July I represented Australia in Colombia at the Copa America tournament against some very talented countries bringing home a bronze medal for Australia. 

From this amazing achievement, I was invited to a 9 day high performance camp at the AIS from the 10th-18th August with team Australia before they head to the world championships. 

I have and want to continue to travel interstate and international as much as I can in order to gain valuable experience and as i am now in the elite ranks, it’s vital to be exposed to as many opportunities and gain as much experiences as i can. This obviously comes at a great cost and with 2025 and 2026 being a career defining year for me, with states, nationals and commonwealth games trials coming up, i need your help to achieve my goals! Any and every contribution will help me chase my dreams of representing Australia at the highest level.
