The Tagore Grove project was conceived by Tagore Society of Houston in 2012 as a humble
‘Shraddhanjali’ (Homage) to Rabindranath Tagore, who in 1913 became the first non-European Nobel
Laureate in Literature. Tagore continues to be recognized worldwide as a giant beacon of peace,
humanism and universalism, and continues to motivate and inspire people through the eternal wisdom
espoused in his writings.
In the the 1st Phase of the project, TSH installed a full size statue of Tagore at the Ray Miller Park in Houston.
In the next phase, the statue to be surrounded by etched vertical panels which will have Tagore’s quotes, poems and information on Tagore's Life and achievements.
Estimated Cost: $300,000
Fundraising Goal: $200,000 (TSH will fund the balance)
Schedule: Inauguration by May 6, 2022
