What was once a paradise and sanctuary is now a scene straight out of Terminator. The 2020 Apocalypse has burned Elkhorn, Oregon to the ground...consuming the home of Taerie Bryant, and her four legged friends. The Riverside Fire has taken not only their home, but their livelihood. Taerie has been employed as the caretaker of Elkhorn for over 20 years. What do you do when everything you own AND your career burns to ash in one day? Winter is Coming...and now there are no horse blankets, feed, hay stores, dog or cat supplies, to speak nothing of human needs. Taerie forwent grabbing items she held dear in order to focus on saving the lives of four horses, two cats and dog. Boasting a nearly 50 year history volunteering with San Diego Comic-Con there is a devastating loss of irreplaceable treasures, but she continues to focus on the lives she saved. With no foreseeable income or home, their need is immediate and ongoing. These critters are family, some of which require specialty food and medicine, but that won't stop her from caring for them, even if it takes food out of her own mouth. If you know Taerie at all, met her even once, you know how fiercely independent she is. As someone who always serves as the support and backbone needed in a situation, now it is our turn to support her. There is no such thing as a donation to small.
