Tacos and Flipflops must live on

Hi, Lynn and Pete here from Tacos and Flipflops.
We are hoping to raise funds to turn an empty unit into our own Taco place. It needs everything including the kitchen sink! So a lot of work!
We’ve been incredibly popular since day one! Despite all our setbacks and rough luck! We’ve kept going!!! Now we’ve found a place that will work. But we need help for us to continue into a permanent spot for us all.
We’re a Taco Turning Twosome that have been making people happy with our food and events since 2019.
We are passionate about good food, our communities and a compassionate world.
We make fresh, amazing Mexican and South American inspired street food from scratch, with a vegan twist. All inspired by our big trip travelling and volunteering through Latin America.
We were inspired how food seemed to be the back bone of the communities we met while travelling, that gave people a strong connection and support network. We fell in love with the food and culture, the way food brings people together and wanted to bring a little bit of it back home to share.
Those that know us will know the rocky start we had. After going through a tough experience we started Tacos and Flipflops, on a shoe string budget, but from our very first opening we have had nothing but busy and mostly sell out services!
Starting as a pop up just 6 months before lockdown, left us falling through the gaps of the financial help. We did our best to continue through lockdown, but it became too impractical - our income stopped overnight.
As things started to reopen, we too began ‘popping up’ again and being asked back to pubs, venues and festivals we’d cooked at in 2019. Then we found the Hackspace! A lovely creative community space,
and in such a short time and tiny, tiny space grew an incredible customer base.
But! Luck was against us again and unfortunately the Hackspace was closed down overnight leaving us without a way to trade and locking all our goods inside. We were left hugely out of pocket.
Since then we were involved in an awful accident on the A1 that completely destroyed our van leaving us unable to do any pop ups too!
And then the worst of the worst, we lost our dog Rudy (The Boss) to cancer. Heart broken, financially broken and emotionally broken.
We've done our best to continue, and try to work with other venues and kitchens, but the reality is we need our own space to accommodate the growth we saw was evolving and create a sustainable venture.
We have found a space that we know will work, but we need to fit a complete kitchen and extraction in, along with all the other costly start up expenses and we just can’t do it alone.
So here we are asking for help. Something we never wanted to do, but there is so much to do the reality is we can’t without some help.
We will, however do it no matter what we raise - if you know us you know we always find a way!
We offer an independent, dynamic, unique, sustainable, ethical, and authentic experience for all.
Our aim is to create a safe space where the whole community feels welcome. A place where we can share knowledge, support other businesses and most importantly, serve delicious vegan food as we always have done.
In the past we’ve enjoyed;
* A regular service, dishing out our banging grub for Take aways, deliveries and a place to eat in.
* Giving cooking classes
* Putting on fundraisers for charities
* Showcasing and supporting other local businesses
* Supporting the local arts
We want to do all this and more with our new space. A creative environment, embracing music and the arts of our communities. Sharing knowledge. Bringing family and people together through food.
We’ve never wanted to work so hard on something in our lives. We think we’ve proven how hard we’re willing to work.
If we can build a grass roots, family business by dedicating our efforts towards sharing our passion and experiences with food, supporting our local communities, local businesses, giving back to our city, providing an empowering work environment, making people happier and Peterborough a more vibrant and inclusive place, then we’ll stop at nothing to do it!
We understand times are tough for some right now and ask only those who can help, to help support our journey.
We look forward to seeing all your faces through our very own doors and feeding you soon!!! Hopefully June!!!
it’s just outside peterborough city centre, not far from our previous pop ups and great for deliveries once that’s set up.
We will be forever grateful and would like to return the love and support through discounted offers, birthday treats and other special treatments to our donors.
We appreciate you all. Taco Love !!
