Perhaps the most important Taco Tuesday of our lives is about to happen - Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020.
Help us make tacos count - by bringing them to voters in line in the great state of Georgia!
The site of a contentious 2018 midterm election, rife with claims of voter suppression and insanely long lines to vote, Georgian voters could use a little extra love this Tuesday while they wait to cast their votes. Let's help our local Chef friends give that love in the form of tasty tacos!
We want you to join us to support local restaurants in providing hand-held meals to 8 polling stations in Georgia - a total of 2000 meals for voters. Team Taco Tuesday Curator is our friend and Georgia Chef, Author and Restaurateur Hugh Acheson, who will be supplying food to voters in Athens, GA, along with this awesome line-up of Atlanta Chefs: Andy Gonzales of Steinbeck's, Chris Wilkins of Root Baking and Rob Birdsong of Glide Pizza.
A $5 donation helps one Georgian have a great Taco Tuesday while in line to cast their vote, $25 helps 5 voters and $500 helps 100 voters...and $2500 will support one Georgia Chef to bring the party to 500 people at 2 polling stations.
Fundraiser hosts Anjali Kumar and Ellen Gustafson have been friends, food lovers and vocal democracy lovers for over a decade. We love Chef Hugh and wanted to do something with him in Georgia to spread the love of voting and local food! Anjali will be withdrawing all funds raised to distribute the money out evenly between the four restaurants. Let's get the people tacos so they are fired up and fed to be democracy in action!
