Please Help Carly Cover Taco’s $20k in Vet Bills

Donation protected
UPDATE 3/26:
Taco had to be put to sleep around 5am. He fought the good fight but in the end it was just too much. We’re keeping Carly in our thoughts and still raising money to cover the $20k plus in vet bills. Thank you to everyone who has followed their story and supported. ❤️

UPDATE 3/25:
Taco is still hanging in there. We’ve had many roller coaster rides, ups and downs, and we should know if he’s out of the woods of leakage or infection within 24 to 48 hours… had a few setbacks, but seem to be on the right road. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts.

Hi everyone! I normally don’t do this but this platform is here for moments like these….

My sister, Carly, adopted a senior dog this past Christmas and he has been fighting the battle for his life this past week. Here’s their story:

Carly is a regular volunteer at the pet shelter in Tampa. This year she volunteered 2 days before Xmas. It was love at first sight. Taco was surrendered by his previous owners at the age of 10 and Carly just happen to spot him out of corner of her eye. It takes a few days to get the dogs processed and ready for adoption and with the holidays this processes was even more delayed. Only way to visit him was to spend Xmas Day as a volunteer at the shelter. She adopted him a few days later after a surgery for teeth and neutering.

She got him home and settled in. Taco was super happy and made himself right at home. He was throwing up pretty consistently once her got home, so she took him to the vet for blood work. After multiple ultra sounds and CT scans it was discovered he had a mass in his stomach entering the small intestine. He had surgery last week where they removed the tumor and reattached small intestine. Carly got him home where he started going down hill. She brought him back to the surgeon and discovered that his pancreas wasn’t filtering out the bile and he had to have an emergency surgery last night. They could not find any of the ducts that filter out the bile being as he is so tiny, so they had to attach gallbladder to small intestine.

He requires transfer to an ER now and constant blood work and monitoring. Her total bill is now at $20,000 and climbing. We really don’t want to give up after this baby after he finally found a loving home where he could be a spoiled senior dog. He has had 2 major surgeries in a week. 3 in 3 months. This poor little baby needs your help. We need to give him a chance. Please help if you can. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
