On Tuesday, September 23rd, Ryan was on his way to football practice in Pelican Rapids after a day of teaching in Perham when he lost control of his motorcycle. He was first brought to Perham Hospital and then airlifted to Sanford in Fargo, where he spent the next 10 days receiving intensive care.
Ryan sustained numerous serious injuries, including flail chest, right and left hemopneumothorax, multiple rib fractures (right 4–12 and left 4–8 & 12), a kidney laceration, liver laceration, and fractures to his T11–12 and L1–3 vertebrae — just to name a few. He underwent a major surgery to reconstruct his ribs and spent several days in the ICU as doctors closely monitored his condition.
While Ryan is now home, his recovery will be a marathon, not a sprint. He faces a long road ahead as he works to regain his strength, mobility, and independence.
Ryan has dedicated his life to helping others — from his students in the classroom to his athletes on the field, court and track. Now, it’s our turn to rally around him and Tanya. Any donation, big or small, will help ease the burden of medical bills and ongoing recovery expenses.
Thank you for supporting Ryan and Tanya during this difficult journey. Your generosity and kindness mean more than words can express.
