Tackling Leukaemia for Liam

Liam McLenaghan Mandurah Pirates RUFC U15 fullback who recently was tragically diagnosed with Leukaemia.
Liam is a prodigious rugby talent having represented Mandurah at club and state level for both rugby union (Mandurah Pirates) and rugby league (Mandurah Storm) on top of all this Liam is also an accredited referee regularly officiating at junior rugby matches.
Liam is well known and respected in both codes not only for his sporting prowess but especially his sportsmanlike conduct on and off the field, in fact a measure of the esteem in which this young man is held, is that his teammates alone took the decision to “retire” his No.15 shirt for the remainder of the season as none of them felt worthy enough to wear it in his absence.
Known for his fearsome tackling, Liam is not one to shirk a challenge and we his rugby family want to support him and his family on what is now the greatest challenge of his young life.
Australian government studies show that Leukaemia is the most expensive cancer in Australia in terms of treatment costs at approximately $51,000 per case, however these costs raise significantly if more intensive treatment is required.
The Mandurah rugby community (Union & League) have united together to support Liam and his family through this tumultuous period, and have set immediate, short and long term goals in terms of supporting the McLenaghan family, education and counselling of Liam’s teammates and of course fundraising for his treatment costs.
