I’m coach Barbi, and I am the head coach of the Taborvilla Little League Majors baseball team, The Volcanoes . Out team has been invited to meet the Seattle Mariners and proclaim play ball! On the field at the June 12, 2022 game versus the Red Sox. This is an amazing opportunity for which this diverse young and inexperienced team would greatly appreciate. Let me tell you their story… They have lost every game this season, they have worked so hard but coming from a pandemic of two years not being able to play, and joining the league after never being able to play has been terrible for these kids. The team has been outmatched in almost every game, but yet they still have heart! They’ve worked hard and learned the values of hard work and fair, these are priceless. We live in Portland, Oregon and it is a 3 Hour Drive to T-Mobile Park in Seattle and gas is very expensive right now. Safe, good working cars are a premium and a long drive is stressful and one flat tire could be disastrous. My concerns are that there are players that may not be able to go, worried about the cost of gas and yes we are trying to carpool, but there is limited resources for taking all 14 players, their parents and all brothers and sisters living in the home. My prayer is this will be an amazing experience that will inspire the players to come back and continue to play. Not to let a bad season decide their futures, so I would like to rent a bus to take everyone together!
I found a service that can pick us all up in Portland and take us to the game and drive us home for $2500. it doesn’t seem like a lot of money but for us it’s the world and I just thought if everybody out there that maybe once played little league, and lost a game and knows what that feels like- can understand how hard this has been and understands and can imagine what these kids are going through - they could see their way clear of donating one dollar. If everyone who saw this donate one dollar we would meet our goal. so I’m just praying that folks can remember what it was like to be a kid, and you get an opportunity of a lifetime and for money to be the obstacle for that thank you very much for taking the time to read this I really appreciate it thank you. All funds go to kids and support of little league engagement. Every. Dime.
